Social Media Posts: Why Scheduling Is Key

September 22, 2017

When running any business, social media posts become a must. You watch those follower numbers grow and excitement builds. What will you post next? But more importantly, when will you post next?

Scheduling is key to building a successful social media presence. Ensure that your social media posts are reaching as many eyes as possible and keeping your audience engaged at the same time. Why is scheduling key in all of this, and how do you do it?

Create Consistency

Consistency is our number one advice when dealing with social media and all of those algorithms. Try to keep your posts consistent not only in theme but also in timing. Set a schedule and stick with it! This is easily accomplished with one of the many social media schedulers on the market. Pick a schedule that works for you then fill up your queue. Be sure to work out a schedule that not only includes time but also the type of content that you post. Will you post a picture at 8 am or share a post from your company’s blog? Set a schedule and try it for a few weeks. Further tweak it once a month until you get a system that gives you optimum reach on each platform.

Avoid Distractions

Scheduling can also help those of you that are doing your own social media from getting too distracted. Let’s face facts. You open up your Facebook account and an hour later realize you have gotten lost in your feed and what is happening in your friends’ lives. Try to set aside a certain amount of time each day or once a week and perform all of your scheduling at once. This will help you to stay on track and avoid the rabbit hole that is social media.

Write Better Content

Being intentional with your content can help you to grow your business as well as your following on social media. Ever been in a panic because you haven’t posted to Instagram in a week and you have no idea what to post? That picture from last week’s dinner party is not helping your real estate business. What would help? A gorgeous interior of your latest listing with a well thought out caption that includes researched hashtags. That, my friends, is something that you cannot do successfully on the fly. Research is key to successful social media management and that takes time. Think about your social media posts, how they work together, and how they fit in with your brand. Only then can you successfully schedule for maximum benefit.

Delegate the Work

Finally, scheduling helps your social media when it comes time for delegation. Once you have your social media plan in place and it seems to be working for you, handing off the reins to someone new should be fairly seamless. If you find you don’t have time for all of these platforms, find someone that does!

Doing your homework up front allows you to communicate exactly what you would like to accomplish with each of your channels and the look that you would like to convey. Are you all about luxury? Or maybe a more laid back casual style? Which of these do you want to portray to your followers? Communication of these branding elements to that individual or business is paramount to delegation success. You want your social media channels to look like you are personally running them even when you don’t have the time to do it yourself.

Are you scheduling your social media posts or flying by the seat of your pants? Start by sitting down today and coming up with your plan. What image are you going to portray? What types of posts will reflect that? Finally, what times will work for you and your target audience? Take that schedule and run with it!

As social media is an important part of all businesses, you should continue to strive for success on each platform. Scheduling is just one way that you can stay on top of those algorithms and get more eyes to your business.
