There’s no denying the power of stories. Who doesn’t love to be entertained with a short tale? In the case of social media, stories are full-screen videos or images that appear outside the regular feed and only last 24 hours. The short availability of these clips triggers major FOMO (fear of missing out) and drives viewers to tune in. Instagram, Facebook, and Google all have story features, and now Pinterest is joining in the fun! Here’s everything you need to know about Pinterest Story Pins and how to start creating your own.
Turn Ideas into Stories
Images only tell one part of a story. Story Pins give creators a chance to tell the world more! This new publishing option allows you to edit videos creatively with voiceovers, soundtracks, images, and text overlay. This user-friendly video clip editor makes it easy to share your talent, creativity, services, and products with viewers. For Pinners, it means that the ideas shared in the Story Pin are more engaging and actionable.
Story Pins are meant to be positive and encouraging. Before you can even create your first one you have to agree that your content will be positive, inclusive, and safe for everyone. How great is that? This committment will encourage Pinterest users to tune in more often to be inspired. Story Pins can be saved to boards for later, so visitors can enjoy them in the future, too.
How to Create a Pinterest Story Pin
In order to start creating story pins on Pinterest, you’ll need to have a business account. This may change in the future, but right now the feature is limited to those types of accounts. After you agree to the Creator Code you can get started! These are the steps to follow:
- Click on “create” first and then “create story pin”.
- Choose the videos or images you wish to use from your camera roll, unless you are recording the video pin on the fly.
- Use the tools to edit and design your Story Pin. Options include changing the layout, cropping, adding text or audio, and overlays. There are a ton of options to make your Story Pin uniquely yours.
- Fill out information about your Pin such as the title, what board to save it to, tags, and a supply list.
- Click “publish”.
Build An Audience
Pinterest Story Pins come with a new suite of tools that help you see how your stories impact Pinners. An engagement tab makes it easy for creators to connect with their audience. It’s a hub where you can like or respond to photos and Pins in one place. Pin Stats show you key metrics such as impressions and engagement. The redesigned dashboard will give you a detailed overview of how your content is performing. Knowing what your audience engages with the most helps you craft better content that reaches your most active consumers.
